mojyo

喪女 もじょ ダウナー

A mojyo (喪女, もじょ, lit. "mourning woman") is a female character who is woefully romantically inept or inexperienced. An equivalent Western term is femcel.

Often gloomy or neurotic, and possibly slovenly as well, a mojyo may leave their hair messy or unkempt, or be so emotionally strung out as to have a penchant for crazed expressions.

Notable mojyo characters

  • Gye Baeksoon (Unemployed Gye Baeksoon)
  • Hamanami (Kantai Collection)
  • Hex Maniac (Pokemon XY)
  • Izumozaki Neneko (Shironagasu-tou e no Kikan)
  • Kanoe (Blue Archive)
  • Kuroki Tomoko (Watashi ga Motenai no wa dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!)
  • Less Kawaii Than All The Garbage In The World Puniru (Puniru Wa Kawaii Slime)
