the magician (tarot)
The first of the Major Arcana cards in a tarot deck.
Traditionally a practitioner of ordinary stage magic, the Magician became a wizard in occult decks designed for divination. The Magician usually has one hand pointing skyward and the other hand pointed to the ground. Many depictions of the Magician include items symbolizing the four suits of the Minor Arcana: a wand, a cup, a sword or knife, and a pentacle or coin.
