tenryuu (kancolle)

天龍 (Named after the Tenryuu River, lit. "Heavenly Dragon")

Tenryuu was a light cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was completed in 1919 and sunk in 1943. She is the namesake of the Tenryuu light cruiser class, which includes the Tatsuta.

The Tenryuu class are the third oldest out of the real ship classes currently represented in Kantai Collection, with Gangut and the Kongou-class battleships being the oldest and second oldest, respectively.

In Kantai Collection, Tenryuu has short purple hair and her right eye is yellow. She wears a school uniform with a checkered necktie and thighhighs, black gloves with the index and middle fingers exposed and an eyepatch over her left eye. She has ear-like or horn-like headgear hovering over the sides of her head. Her gear usually glows purple. Her weapon is a sword. For summer 2015, she was given a temporary alternate outfit consisting of a white bikini, a kickboard, and her necktie tied around the bikini bottom.

Depicted with a tough girl personality with the catchphrase of "Heh, you scared?"; she is, however, often depicted in a way that subverts this generally because her stats are very sub-par for her ship type and is generally used as expedition fleet fodder rather than part of a combat fleet. She is also depicted as a babysitter to the destroyers (most commonly to the Akatsuki-class).

Often paired with Kiso, due to their similar personalities and their eyepatches.
