Shin Megami Tensei (真・女神転生, lit. "True Goddess Reincarnation") is a series of RPGs developed and published by Atlus, based on the Megami Tensei series of books, and games developed by Atlus (such as Megami Tensei II).

The games are known for having stories that focus heavily on religious themes, as well as the gameplay, where the player can recruit demons and deities from various mythologies and folklore.

A few branch series based on the original games were created later on, like the Persona, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Summoner and Last Bible series.
