ritual baton

笏 笏板

Known as shaku in Japanese and hu in Chinese.
This ritual baton is long and flat in shape, often made from bamboo. It originates from ancient China, where it originally served as an object to write on.
It is strongly associated with ancient noblemen, shinto priests, and hina ningyou.

  • Enma's rod of remorse is a variant of this ritual baton.
