pen (medium)

Art created with a pen, which deposits ink onto a surface, typically paper. Resulting lines are thin, with sharp edges. Most pens make lines of constant width, with multiple pens being used to create different line widths. Nib pens, however, can create lines with varying thickness for added expression. Pens can be paired with markers, brushes, graphite, colored pencil (medium), or watercolors to create filled portions in an work, with the pen often being used as lineart.
