character reference (novelai)

An image that uses NovelAI's Character Reference feature (colloquially known as CR). While Vibe Transfer is mainly used for stylizing, CR is used for character design consistency.

2025-09-11: Preview Release. Currently, CR cannot be used while using Vibe Transfer or inpainting/img2img, can only use one reference (an image) per image, and does not work as well with multiple characters.

2025-10-06: Fidelity update. Accuracy is significantly improved, and a slider setting is added for more control.
