In Black Lagoon, Balalaika represents the branch of the Russian Mafia known as Hotel Moscow and is one of the Lagoon Company's primary employers. A former captain of the Russian Airborne Corps and veteran of the Afghanistan War, Balalaika and her men are hardened soldiers who are more than ready to tackle just about anything that comes their way.
The scar down the right side of her face from a grenade blast during a battle has led to the derisive nickname "Fry Face" among the gangsters of Roanapur, but only a fool dares to call her this to her face. Balalaika's sheer ruthlessness and dedication make getting on her bad side one of the worst mistakes one can ever make.
