A female vampire from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. She is the central character of the vampire-themed Dawnguard expansion and daughter of its antagonist, Lord Harkon. She accompanies the player character almost entirely throughout its story, regardless whether they chose to side with the vampires or vampire hunters.
Serana has stood out among Skyrim companions for having an extensive character arc and development, while frequently interacting with the player throughout the main quest, whereas the majority of the game's NPCs have comparatively flat personalities and basic character backgrounds. This has made her very popular among the Elder Scrolls community and a frequent subject of romantic interest for players, even though her relationship with the player is entirely platonic in the game (unless the option is modded in).
