Kantai Collection character.
The Type IXC submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II after being sold to them by Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine on September 16, 1943.
Her design in comparison to U-511 goes through a dramatic change. She now wears a school swimsuit, a cropped serafuku, slippers, a hair flower (a satsuki azalea, reference to her code name of "Satsuki #1"), and a bracelet. She is seen holding a lifebuoy and a torpedo strapped to her. She also now has a one-piece tan.
For Summer 2017, she obtained a seasonal CG which is shared to some level with her previous U-511 form. She wears a white two-piece swimsuit based on a school swimsuit under a heavy pink jacket, clearly revealing her tan lines. She also wears a pink bow where her flower should be. She is eating some ice cream. Damaging her simply gives her a brain freeze.
She's still somewhat quiet and speaks softly, but now there's a warm confidence to her personality that wasn't present before.
Refers to herself as "Ro".
Often portrayed in fanart with I-58 due to her 10:00 hourly line where she calls I-58 "Decchi", I-58's verbal tic, thinking it's her nickname instead of Gouya, making I-58 mad.
Upon being acquired by Japan, the U-511, now RO-500, did not score any kills or have a combat record; she was instead kept as a piece of intelligence. German subs were almost all more advanced than their Japanese counterparts and various parts of U-511's design were used in the new and advanced I-201 class submarines.
