The first game by Nexon was closed a few weeks before the anime aired, and the first season of the anime adaptation was financially restricted, resulting in poor animation quality and initially received mixed reviews.
Despite the first game being unsuccessful, the anime version was a surprise hit, primarily due to scripting by director Tatsuki, receiving very high ratings and viewership. And miraculously revived the then dying franchise into a successful one since.
