Upvoting your own posts: Bug or feature?

It seems you can upvote your own postings (and some people do), which seems odd to me?

Is this "working as specified" or a bug?

Working as intended. What is so odd about it.

If you upload someone else's image and you like it why shouldn't you be able to upvote it? For self-uploads its a little strange to upvote it, but those are the minority of posts

Many other sites with similar voting systems let you upvote your own things as well, like YouTube or Reddit. I don't see why it's weird.

upvoting all your stuff is an inherently defensive measure against {targeted} downvoting, if you care about artificial online scores; i'm almost sure there's an userscript or some other way to automate upvotes for your every upload while in the upload page still, though i dont know how

anyone seeking to reduce your defence is your enemy; anyone seeking to reinforce your defence is your ally

If you use the bookmarklet you can edit the url to include &post[tag_string]=upvote:me or similar to pre-populate the tag box with it.
