pool toy aliases

Idk about that, there's also inflatable raft and inflatable pool (aliased to wading pool) which aren't things I would call toys. Also one of the images under that tag has nothing inflatable in it that I can tell (post #133313), and another has a beachball, which, while technically it is an inflatable toy, doesn't really fit the expectation.

As for inflatable ring, it seems to be a bit of a stretch calling it a common mistag when it has literally never been tagged (in fact there isn't even a tag entry for it) on AIBooru, and was most recently tagged in 2013 on Danbooru (and only has around a dozen total uses anyway).

Unless we want to imply inflatable raft and pool to inflatable toy, the only thing that should be done is deprecating inflatable.

"inflatable" is a tag used by most non-dan boorus to refer to all recreational inflatables (n) generally, rather than the property of any item that is inflatable. Dan doesnt have a comparable tag other than inflatable_toy.

If that is too far a departure from dan's position then perhaps deprecating and creating a disambiguation wiki entry is an ok solution too, but ime usage of that specific tag on most boorus matches inflatable_toy on dan closely. Another option is using the inflatable tag like other boorus do and have raft pool and toy imply it.

While inflatable_ring isnt a common mistag on dan, it is common (and is aliased) on other boorus along with "floater", and many users of this site are not dan users. Both are common names for them. Imo floater is a bit too ambiguous, so I didnt include it.

I'd argue the lack of mistags is due to low volume more than because its not a common mistag. Does adding that alias potentially affect other tags, or is it also somewhat ambiguous?

e621, e6ai, r34, sankaku, derpibooru all use inflatable as a parent/noun tag and e6xx have aliases for ring, and gelbooru has a bunch of mistagged posts (they all do) and an alias for floater. Not sure about other boorus but I think those are a good proportion of the largest tagged boorus.

I am obviously not suggesting following anything the dumpster fires of sankaku or r34 do for the reason that "other boorus do it", rather pointing out that non-dan users tend to lean towards that tagging convention and this site has a relatively large number of newer non-dan users so it might help them tag consistently without impacting dan style tagging.

e621 does not use the tag in the way you're suggesting (at least according to their wiki, which state it's to be used for any object or character filled with air). That would preclude it from being aliased to toy, because not every inflatable device is a toy, even if you would include things like balloons and innertubes in the category of toys. R34/Sankaku shouldn't really be taken seriously. Derpibooru I am not familiar with so I can't comment.

For AIBooru's case the main thing is whether wading pool and inflatable raft count as inflatable toys, or only something like an inflatable animal. If people think they should imply inflatable toy, then sure, I guess.

As for inflatable ring, I still don't like it, but I guess it probably isn't a problem. Though I'm also not convinced it's terribly useful since it's a tiny fraction of posts on every site that does have it.

The meaning of inflatable on e621 is quite specific (eg a soccer ball or car tyre would not be tagged inflatable), although I will agree it doesn't align exactly with inflatable_toy due mainly to living_inflatable and balloon posts, even though they are primarily designed to imitate inflatable toys.

As for wading pool and inflatable raft implying toy, since aibooru doesn't imply "inflatable" for all inflatables I don't think it would be an issue.

My main reasoning was that imo there is a high chance that anyone coming to the site and tagging something with "inflatable" means to tag with inflatable_toy. For this reason I dont think adding inflatable as a parent tag implied by all inflatable tags is nescessarily a good option (even though it probably still makes sense), as it wouldn't result in any more concise tagging, but I wonder what you think.
